What “.999 fine” on a bar actually guarantees (and what it doesn’t)
The stamp is the refiner saying 99.9% pure. It is not a police escort. We still weigh it, measure it, and sometimes look at the middle.
.999 means the refiner claims 99.9% pure.
If that refiner is a name we see every week, and the bar weighs and measures right, the visit is short. If the stamp is a brand we have never heard of, or the corners look poured in a garage, the stamp is just ink.
What it does not guarantee
That the middle matches the skin. Tungsten. That we will pay Eagle money for a no-name bar. Government vs generic. That an extra nine on .9999 is worth a fat premium. Fineness.

Weigh. Measure. Sometimes XRF. Sometimes a second test. Tests. Hallmarks. Kilo bars.
