Peace dollars: the last circulating US silver dollar
Peace dollars are 90% silver, same melt as a Morgan. Struck 1921–1928 and 1934–1935 — not every year in between. High relief 1921, then a lower relief you can actually stack.
A Peace dollar is the last circulating US silver dollar. Liberty with a radiate crown. PEACE on the reverse. Same size as a Morgan. Same metal: 90% silver, 0.77344 oz. Melt is the same number as a common Morgan. Collectors still pay more for some dates. Morgan vs Peace.
They were not struck every year from 1921 to 1935. The years are 1921–1928 and 1934–1935. No 1929–1933. If someone hands you a “1930 Peace,” look again.
High relief 1921
The first 1921 Peace dollars are high relief. The design is sculpted. They did not stack well in bags. 1922 on is a lower relief you can actually bank. Both are 90% silver. Melt does not care about relief. A collector might.
Mintmarks
Mintmark is on the reverse, under the word ONE. D and S exist. No mintmark is Philadelphia. Keys and semi-keys exist — 1928-P is the low-mintage one people actually pull. Melt is still the floor. Mint marks.
