A Saint and a Gold Eagle are both gold. One can have a collector premium. One is a bullion product. Do not assume the old one is automatically more money.

Old US gold feels like treasure. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it is a common $20 with a lot of bag marks that trades near melt.

Modern government bullion

Eagles, Buffalos, Maples. Known weight, known demand, tight-ish spread. Government vs generic.

Pre-33

Liberty and Indian $2.50, $5, $10, $20, plus the smaller cousins. Gold content is known. Collector premium depends on date, mint, grade, and whether someone cleaned it. Don’t clean.

A common Saint in average circulated can be a gold bid plus a little. A key in original skin is a different conversation. Old is not rare.

1933 stories

Most old gold you will see is legal and boring. The famous 1933 double eagle story is not your jewelry-box $20. 1933 context.

How we buy them

Weigh. Authenticate. Look at the date. Then decide if this is melt-plus or a collector coin. If you already have them slabbed, fake slabs still get a look-up.
