Veinte pesos on a gold coin is Mexico’s 20 pesos gold. The modern type (Azteca / calendar stone) is .900 gold, 0.4823 oz AGW. It is a real gold coin. Shops buy it as gold, not as a peso. World coins at a US shop.

Do not mix these up

  • VEINTE PESOS gold — this page. Gold. About half an ounce.
  • VEINTE CENTAVOS — a small silver or copper coin. Not 0.48 oz of gold.
  • Older 20 pesos 87.5% (1870–1905) — different fineness. Different Melt Prices type.

If the coin is the size of a quarter and says centavos, it is not this. If it is gold-colored and light, it might be brass. Weigh it. Gold this size is heavy for the diameter.

Live melt

Mexico 20 pesos gold. Older 87.5%: mexico-20-pesos-gold-875. Melt is the gold. Premiums on popular Mexican gold run like other world bullion — not 100% melt, not a numismatic fantasy unless the date is actually scarce.

Dos, cinco, diez, and cincuenta pesos gold are the same family, different ounces. Search those names on Melt Prices.
